1-vs-1 Duels, Civic Leaderboard, and Senate

Civicamente bridges competitive epistemic challenge with the foundations of Ethical Epistocracy: learn how citizen duels work, how Voting Capacity is computed, and how deliberative seats in the Civic Senate are unlocked.

Systemic Principle
Deliberative democracy thrives when societal choices are shaped by informed and critical-thinking citizens. Civicamente replaces emotionally volatile shouting matches with a transparent model measuring institutional knowledge, temporal foresight, and cognitive bias resistance.
01 / Core Objective

Why Challenge Each Other? From Echo Chambers to Factual Merit

In modern online political arenas, discourse frequently degrades into tribal polarization where whoever screams loudest or spreads the most simplistic soundbite dominates. Civicamente upends this structure: civic authority cannot be bought through celebrity or clicks, but is earned through constitutional mastery, logical coherence, and long-term vision.

Challenging another citizen is not an act of hostility, but a Socratic exercise: a fair, fact-based contest on constitutional laws, public economics, and governance that motivates both participants to study, fact-check, and hone their civic discernment.

01

Immunization from Misinformation

Questions focus on verifiable facts and real constitutional law. Engaging in duels continually trains your ability to distinguish factual reality from propaganda.

02

Educative Gamification

Turns civic learning into an exciting discipline: timed head-to-head matches and leaderboard progression turn civic readiness into an engaging daily practice.

03

Democratic Epistocracy

All citizens retain equal foundational voting rights. The platform, however, honors intellectual rigor by granting consultative seats in the Civic Senate to top performers.

02 / Duel Rules

How a 1-vs-1 Citizen Duel Operates

The duel protocol is designed around rigorous standards of fairness, cryptographic anonymity, and fast-paced decision making:

01

Verification & Duel Initiation

Every citizen holds an anonymous Civic ID (e.g. TI-2024-8841). Entering the ID on the /verify page displays their credential card with a 'Challenge this Citizen' button. Alternatively, trigger a duel against a random ranked citizen.

Strict ethical policy: self-dueling is prohibited. The algorithm automatically prevents users from challenging their own Civic ID.
02

Timed Head-to-Head with Identical Questions

Both participants face an identical battery of questions randomly sampled from the Civicamente repository (Constitutional Law, Public Finance, Mazur Delay Discounting, and logical Panachage).

Response speed matters: rapid, correct answers amplify your scoring multiplier, whereas hesitation or blind guesswork lowers your rating.
03

Verdict & ELO Rating Recalculation

Upon completion, the engine determines the Winner, Defeated, or Technical Tie. Defeating a higher-ranked citizen produces a substantial rating jump compared to beating a peer.

Analytical transparency: both duelists receive a detailed radar breakdown across Foresight, Cognitive Effort, and Institutional Knowledge to pinpoint growth areas.
03 / Territorial Rankings

The Leaderboard: Voting Capacity & Civic Health Heatmap

The Civicamente leaderboard is not a static list of scores, but a live gauge of national deliberative health. Citizens are ranked by Voting Capacity (0-100%), a weighted index combining test accuracy, analytical consistency, and duel track records.

The National and Cantonal boards map civic vigor across geographical regions, revealing which cantons excel in institutional competence and where specific cognitive biases are most prevalent.

The Civic Senate: The Voice of Epistocratic Merit

Citizens maintaining a top-tier Voting Capacity (within the top 5% cantonal or national percentile) earn the honorific appointment of 'Civic Senator'.

In the Senate (/senato), these citizens hold consultative voting power: casting weighted votes on simulated federal referendums, deliberating with reasoned arguments, and publishing data-backed guidance for the electorate.
